From BMSR’s Cobra Juicy LP. This video premiered today and stars WWE wrestler Dustin Runnels (aka Goldust) as “The Pink One”. Judging from the comment in the description on YouTube (“betamax, motherfuckers”) I think it’s a safe bet that this video was actually filmed on an old Betamax camera, which is awesome. I love this video, but is it weird to say that I was almost expecting something even weirder?

Black Moth Super Rainbow FAR surpassed their initial Kickstarter Project goal recently (raising about $80k MORE than their goal). Last week, they released this remix from Odd Nosdam (Anticon / cLOUDDEAD / Reaching Quiet), which completely flips the vibe on this, and I love it. (Edit: I just discovered an insane remix of this same song by mysterious prankster Longmont Potion Castle as well over on the BMSR Soundcloud page as well.)

They’ve done it again. Another great song, another insane video. You still have ONE DAY to contribute to the Black Moth Super Rainbow Kickstarter project for their upcoming record Cobra Juicy. They’ve almost tripled their initial goal of raising $45,000, but you really should contribute so you can get some awesome stuff.

Brand new track from Tobacco‘s upcoming Maniac Meat record, which Anticon will release on May 25th. The record features a slew of fuzzed out analog beats, including featuring Beck. If you like his previous work, you’ll definitely love this. This also already has my vote for best album cover of the year.

I wasn’t familiar with Montreal’s Duchess Says until recently. I heard this song for the first time on Tobacco‘s (Anticon/Black Moth Super Rainbow) Halloween podcast Orgy Drills 1. This whole record is pretty great. All over the place moog-punk, sometimes melodic, sometimes abrasive. They have a great cover of the Six Finger Satellite song I posted a little while ago (“Rabies (Baby’s Got The)”). Great stuff. Check it out.

I have no idea how this music made its way into my iTunes, but while listening to some music, this came on and immediately caught my attention. Turns out to be a “mixtape” (literally a cassette release) called Untitled [deuces] from London’s Hounds of Hate and Hype Williams (not THAT Hype Williams), where they took turns appearing on each others’ sides of the cassette. To be honest, I’m a bit more into the Hounds of Hate side of the tape than the Hype Williams side, but they’re both great. It’s all on a sludge-funk-downtempo-instrumental-synth vibe and I love it. Highly recommended if you’re a fan of Odd Nosdam or Tobacco. There’s a limited 7″ split and another mixtape with Hype Williams coming in the near future. You can download side 2 of the mixtape here.

First, we have this great “indie rock all stars” posse cut by the North American Hallowe’en Prevention Inc. called “Do They Know It’s Hallowe’en?“. A satire of the song “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” This song features everyone who’s someone in the indie world, and it’s for a good cause. All proceeds from sales of this song go on to benefit UNICEF, so if you feel like being a good samaritan, make your way to iTunes and spend the .99 cents. I have been LOVING this song lately. Tobacco (of Black Moth Super Rainbow) can really do no wrong when he’s doing remixes. (Check the aweome Restiform Bodies remix he did here). Here, he remixes HEALTH‘s “Die Slow” from their awesome new record Get Color. These guys put on a really intense live show, and they’re on tour right now (with awesome opener Pictureplane), so go see them if you get the chance. They also just performed a Gang of Four cover live on stage with Nine Inch Nails, Gary Numan and Eric Avery (Jane’s Addiction). You don’t get much cooler than that.
