My “bandmate” and best buddy Passage released his Pass and Touch EP via Marathon of Dope this week. This EP is a slight variation of his highly sought after self-released EP Pass Money Multi, and is now available on a much wider scale (whereas Pass Money Multi was only available direct from him). Nine tracks in all, this is some of my favorite stuff of his from the past couple of years. You can pick the whole ep up for cheap right here, or any other place you buy mp3′s online. Passage has also stepped up his internet game lately, and you can now find him on Twitter, and check out his Tumblr blog right here.

Isaiah Toothtaker is back (not that he ever went anywhere) with this banger of a track from his upcoming Illuminati Thug Mafia record (which drops on Machina Muerte Jan 25). This track was produced by Wavves drummer Jacob Safari, and has a somewhat NSFW video companion piece to go with it. The video features lots of graphic footage, alongside imagery of Isaiah and Full Force Frank (a zine publisher from the 80′s who promised to one day commit a massacre, and then mysteriously disappeared). Also, the song steals the hook from the Antoine Dodson/Gregory Brothers “Bed Intruder” song. This record is going to be amazing. Look for Isaiah on my upcoming solo record, and look for more Machina Muerte-affiliated folks to take over the blog this week, including Passage‘s remix of a Crime track, and a rough mix of my track with Zackey Force Funk.

Ryan Breen is a prolific guy. Over the past few years, as Back Ted N-Ted, he’s done records with Coppe’, worked with Chronic Future, Brothers Backword (Passage & Mike Busse), remixed and toured with Imogen Heap, contributed songs to awesome little 7″ compilations and still found time to record an amazing record (rumored to be titled A Jet Made of Limos), which is still unreleased and hopefully due this year. He has an incredible knack for writing songs and meticulously constructing beats in the studio, working hard to make sure every single song is something you’ll want to listen to over and over again. He’s just made this remix of Gucci Mane‘s “Lemonade” available for free online. While you wait for his full length, go check out the impressive little Hookie single he released at the end of last year.

A little treat for you from Mochipet‘s Master P On Atari Transformed Volume 1, the first volume in a couple of remix companions to last years Master P On Atari. Not only does this record have remixes from my “group” Restiform Bodies, you also have remixes from Deceptikon (whose remix of Copy‘s “Assassinator” was posted on the Bomarr Blog a while back), Matt B, ill.gates, Kraddy and more. Meet Madness2012 (known to his friends as Justin Delaet). Master beatboxer, prolific MC, and all-around great guy. He’s been doing this rap thing for many years now. Back in the day, he appeared on one side of a split cassette single that I put out with some friends. The song was called “Bullshit,” and on the flipside was Telephone Jim Jesus‘s first ever recorded vocal appearance on a song called “Tapeworm.” Madness2012 has also recorded songs with Passage (Anticon/Restiform Bodies). He’s been putting out records steadily now for a while. His most recent being the Hot Sauce EP, which you can grab right here. “Hang the Way” is from his record The Perfect Words For Saying Nothing. Check him out.

The Brothers Backword “Stupid Intelligent Mixtape” is by far one of my favorite things to listen to lately, and it will no doubt get TONS of play from me this summer. The boys have put together this really well done video which documents the making of this amazing eardrum-pleaser of a mixtape. Another Bomarr Blog premiere. Joel Petersen of The Faint has just released an addendum to his most recent solo release as Broken Spindles, titled Kiss/Kick Addendum. In addition to this amazing track (which I’ve wanted to share with EVERYONE for quite some time), it has exclusive remixes by my group Restiform Bodies, Cassettes Won’t Listen, Afghan Raiders, and Small Sins. As well as a great cover of the classic Jawbox track “Savory” (one of my favorites from high school). As of right now, it is only available exclusively through The Faint’s webstore. You get 11 high quality MP3′s for only 7 bucks. It’s amazing deal considering the quality of the content on this release.

Brothers Backword will do for the Beastie Boys what the Bourne Ultimatum did for James Bond. Unpretentiously, Brothers Backword are a 21st century update on the classic components of Hip Hop and dance music that made them so lovable in the first place. David Bryant or PASSAGE (Restiform Bodies, Anticon) and Mike Busse (Chronic Future, Modern Art Records partner) rap and sing in legible, irresistible flows. Topical tracks like Special Education, essentially a rapped three minute rendering of the film Notes on a Scandal, wind away from convention far enough to refresh themselves, but swing swiftly back to Earth with syrupy hooks, damaged yet effective verses and downright provocative bridges. Brothers Backword coo and holler like hood rats, with none of the outsider politics or hang ups so common to indie rap. Dave and Mike are the classic “big guy, little guy” combo. Standing 5’7 and 5’11 Brothers Backword set the stage for impressive, tempo melting performances, and their vocal abilities flex to demonstrate the audio equivalent in their recordings.
The “Stupid Intelligent” mix-tape proves the perfect hunting ground for Passage and Busse. They interact with, infect and invade every track, from Mr. Oizo to Talking Heads to Nas. Fearless of studio magic, they add talk box back ups to Shannon and manipulate hooks from beyond your memory. Suitably aggressive and comedic lyrics, weave in and around chopped, meticulously syncopated Christian Bale sound bites. With an EP due out late this summer, Brothers Backword‘s “Stupid Intelligent” mix tape is a glimpse of what’s to come, but in this future I don’t know if we can win this war.
I’m honored to premiere this here. These boys have really outdone themselves on this one.
