Very NSFW new video from the upcoming Demon Queen (Tobacco & Zackey Force Funk) album, “Exorcise Tape”, out August 6. You can pre-order the record directly from radcult.net
Tucson’s N8NoFace contributes to the first of hopefully many guest Bomarr Blog podcasts to come. N8 can be heard in his main project CRIMEKILLZ, as well as numerous collaborations with Isaiah Toothtaker and with his brother Zackey Force Funk (most recently on the upcoming Tobacco/Zackey “Demon Queen” LP). Check out N8′s awesome 30-minute mix of minimal synth, punk and hip hop at the iTunes link above, and be on the lookout for an upcoming Bomarr/N8NoFace 7″ on Hallowed Articles. subscribe to the bomarr blog podcast in the itunes store follow the bomarr blog on mixcloud
Belgian producer Loden has just released the instrumental version of Beaus$Eros, the album he produced for frequent-collaborator Busdriver last year. This was a great idea to release the instrumentals for this. It really gives the production the attention it deserves. You can name your price and pick this up over at Loden‘s Bandcamp page.

Here’s a little promo video for the upcoming Greetings From Tuskan record. For those who are unaware, Greetings from Tuskan is the solo project from Joëlle of Bike For Three (the other half of the duo is Buck 65). The new record’s name and release date are still TBA, but if it’s anything like her previous stuff, it’s going to be great. Facebook SoundCloud

This Pete Rock-produced jam from Ras Nebyu is a total throwback to ’94 style hip hop. It’s great to hear this new batch of rappers right now that are bringing a little bit of life back into hip hop (Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky, Schoolboy Q, Danny Brown, Joey Badass, etc). You can grab the rest of this ep right here.
Check out the hypnotic and partially found-sound-using video from Italian producer Indian Wells. “Wimbledon 1980″ is from his debut LP Night Drops. bandcamp
If you’ve followed the blog for a bit, you’re most likely familiar with DREAMTIGER, the brainchild of Liz Wolf (who is now a full-time member of Anticon’s WHY? band as well). She just sent me the final version of her 11-track, self-titled record this week and merely a minute and a half into the opening track, I had goosebumps. It’s that good. This whole record is something that I see ending up on many peoples’ year-end lists come December. You can catch her solo opening act before the WHY? shows on their tour that starts next Friday. You can see the tour dates right here. (*bonus: grab liz & josiah’s covers ep here. it’s amazing) bandcamp
One of the better blog submissions I’ve received lately. Modern minimal synth from the French & Catalan duo Echö. This whole Daydream EP is very impressive. You can buy it via their Bandcamp page right here. Grab the free mp3 now though, because it is only available until it gets 100 downloads. soundcloud
From BMSR’s Cobra Juicy LP. This video premiered today and stars WWE wrestler Dustin Runnels (aka Goldust) as “The Pink One”. Judging from the comment in the description on YouTube (“betamax, motherfuckers”) I think it’s a safe bet that this video was actually filmed on an old Betamax camera, which is awesome. I love this video, but is it weird to say that I was almost expecting something even weirder?
I’m really not sure how I missed this record. It came out on Domino Records back in 2009, but my friend Brooks just put me up on it yesterday. This whole record is quite spectacular. Think of it as a more instrumental Son Lux, if you will. Check out the whole record. It’s called Insides.
Just got this submission today from Brooklyn synth/punk outfit Alien Trilogy. It was not just their truly awesome name that caught my attention, but their comparison to Chrome, who I was just listening to yesterday. These guys are high energy. I’m hoping to catch them live at some point, because I’m sure they put on an awesome show. You can download their free self-titled EP right here.
Bomarr Blog superhomie Cuzzo D. of Not the 1s has finally put this horribly awesome mix online. When I say “horribly awesome,” I’m referring to the fact that the music itself is horrible, yet fascinating. “Awesome” comes into play due to the sheer awesomeness of the concept of putting together a mix that consists of nothing but the worst rap songs the world has to offer. Just look at some of the people involved in this (as seen in the picture above): David Faustino (yes, Bud Bundy), Hulk Hogan, Elvira, Joey Lawrence, DC Talk….the list goes on. You can download this mix over at Dublab. (notthe1s.com)
New track from Serengeti‘s upcoming Saal record on Graveface Records. Out Feb 12. This track is a lot different from ‘Geti’s usual stuff, and I’m loving it. Produced by German multi-instrumentalist Sicker Man.
Birthdays is a one man show. I saw him perform recently at Chez Andre, a new venue in the basement of the East Village’s Standard Hotel. Some of his recorded stuff comes across sounding like unreleased Animal Collective tracks, but he pulls it off well, and the live show is great. bandcamp
The brand new Wild Xmas with Bomarr mix is here! I can’t believe I’ve done this for 7 volumes. Sourced from the deepest, darkest corners of SoundCloud (for the most part), this one is full of a lot of true gems. Please spread the word to your friends. That’s the only way this stuff gets heard. Download it here.
Bay Area producer Matt Chang (known to many early Anticon fans as Sole / Pedestrian producer Matth) has finally released his debut record for Anticon. He is no longer using the Matth moniker though. Now you can call him Bay Blue. Heavy on the Jazz vibe, the songs on the record were painstakingly pieced together from samples, creating brand new songs that sound like a live band. Pretty great stuff. His self-titled debut record drops next month.
Bomarr Blog superfriend Edison is back with yet ANOTHER great head nodder. This one is from his upcoming Delayed Reaction Elements record. Man, this dude is prolific.
So, I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus, as you may have noticed. I was off getting married n shit, honeymooning in Paris and all that, and things were a bit hectic for a while leading up to all that, but I’m back now, and I’m ready to start posting again on the regular and starting up those podcasts again, so stay tuned….good stuff is on the way.
Black Moth Super Rainbow FAR surpassed their initial Kickstarter Project goal recently (raising about $80k MORE than their goal). Last week, they released this remix from Odd Nosdam (Anticon / cLOUDDEAD / Reaching Quiet), which completely flips the vibe on this, and I love it. (Edit: I just discovered an insane remix of this same song by mysterious prankster Longmont Potion Castle as well over on the BMSR Soundcloud page as well.) bmsr soundcloud
This video gives me goosebumps. Seeing such an awesome, gentle man like Rodriguez finally getting the recognition he deserves is really really great. I had the pleasure of meeting this man a few years ago when he came to visit my place of employment after playing a show at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall. After already having been familiar with his Cold Fact LP for a few years, I was extremely nervous to meet him. He was already a celebrity to me. I remember shaking his hand and telling him how much I loved his music, and he continued to shake my hand for a very long time, while very humbly saying “Aww, thanks a lot, man.” It was a very memorable moment for me. You REALLY need to head out and check out the new documentary about him, Searching For Sugar Man. After you watch it, come back and watch this video again. You’ll look at it in a completely different way. I promise.
Producer Erik Nava is back under another pseudonym. Nava is best known for his project under the name Egadz, but has recently released music under the name Matterhorn, and now he brings us Satellites. The new Satellites record, Ghost, is 9 tracks of sprain-your-neck electronic beats, and best of all, it’s only FIVE dollars, direct from the artist here. Go support.
From the great new Light in the Attic compilation Country Funk 1969-1975. Louisiana’s Tony Joe White has written hits for Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, TinaTurner and BrookBenton. I HIGHLY recommend picking up this compilation. It’s so good. buy
They’ve done it again. Another great song, another insane video. You still have ONE DAY to contribute to the Black Moth Super RainbowKickstarter project for their upcoming record Cobra Juicy. They’ve almost tripled their initial goal of raising $45,000, but you really should contribute so you can get some awesome stuff.
Another great 2-song release from Fake Flamingo records. To learn more about this fantastic project that Fake Flamingo is doing, go here. And go here to buy this 2 song EP.
I just learned that Bill Doss of Olivia Tremor Control was found dead yesterday. So sad. I really loved that band. No cause of death has been released yet. Check out “I Have Been Floated” from their classic Black Foliage LP.
Anticon released this FREE Isaiah Toothtaker EP Sea Punk Funk at midnight last night. 8 tracks of electro funk produced by Sixtoo, who, to my knowledge, hasn’t produced anything under the Sixtoo name in years. The EP features appearances from Murs, Antwon, ShowYouSuck and WesternTink. Go grab it at the Anticon Bandcamp page.
